Join County Arts member Veronique Rousseau and fellow visual artists for a facilitated monthly open critique session!

A key process in formal art education is the critique session i.e. a focused discussion in which one’s peers offer feedback and comments on either a completed artwork or a work-in-progress. It offers the artist the opportunity to develop the ability to discuss one’s intentions and processes to an educated audience, as well as to hear viewers’ interpretation of their work. When done within a positive atmosphere, the ‘crits’ session can be a powerful tool to improve one’s artistic practice.

Participants in this new monthly series will have the opportunity to share their visual artwork with peers and receive feedback in an affirming environment. Time permitting, the session will be followed by a discussion on a topic relevant to art theory or practice.

These sessions are free for County Arts Members, for non-members the cost is $10. To learn more about membership or to join click here.

Véronique Rousseau, aka Viktoria Brave, (she/them) is an artist~philosopher

are recognized as shaping Earth, its ecosystems and lifeforms in addition to
their communities and individual lives. Their interdisciplinary practice

Currently pursuing a PhD at Brock University, she uses art~making to interrogate
and communicate concepts.

County Arts makes every effort to ensure that all community members, including those who (or have family members who) are more medically vulnerable feel that they can safely teach and learn at the County Arts Lab. We also want to ensure that those who are unable to wear masks have access to our programming.

We recently moved to masking on a class by class basis. Please select the option below that best describes your comfort level with regard to masking. (Please note, if anyone in the class selects the third option, we will ask that everyone who is able to do so wear a mask.) If you have any questions, please reach out to Programs Manager Stacey Sproule at [email protected].
