Artist Instructor Angela Jane Lavender is back with a brand new Kids' Creation Club course! Young artists will explore the world of abstract painting with a variety of mixed media techniques and tools. Using ordinary household items as well as artist’s materials kids will learn about utilizing the elements and principles of design, including colour, shape, texture, line, and harmony, to create layered compositions on paper and canvas. Students will have the option to select a piece to display at our end of session open house/vernissage, (more details to come!).

Please Note: The County Arts Lab has moved! Classes will now take place across the hall in unit 1E of the Armoury. Access to this unit is from the outside of the building, at the rear of the building on the side nearest to the library.

Meet Angela! Mixed Media Artist Angela Jane Lavender graduated with honours from Sheridan College of Art and Design's Visual & Creative Arts Program, and has completed the Milan Art Institute's Mastery Program. Her artwork is an expressive dance of colour and intricate line work.Angela's work is shown at Melt Studio and Gallery in Picton, and L’art de Vivre Galerie in Saguenay, Québec.

She loves helping young artists build new skills and unlock their creative potential at the County Arts Lab!

Art supply fee - Please note that the cost of supplies is not included in the course fee; this amount depends on the course, and will be automatically added to your total. If this cost is prohibitive for you, please contact Stacey at [email protected] before registering to make alternative arrangements.

Offline registration - We prefer to take payment and registration through this form, but if you are not comfortable with this option and it is more than 2 weeks before the course begins, please check the "Offline" box in the Billing Information section below. We will contact you with alternative payment options. Payment must be received at least one week before the course begins.

Processing fee - This covers transaction and ticketing fees. We've decided to use Regfox, the most affordable ticketing platform we could find, which will collectively save our participants over $1000 in processing fees per year.

Policies and Waivers - We've included these as part of the registration process (thank you for your patience!) to save some paperwork on your end and get straight to art making on day one!

  • We encourage those who are able to pay a little more to choose this price ($20/hr). By helping us subsidize the costs of offering a sliding scale fee system, you are helping build a community that prioritizes access to the arts for all. This price also allows us to cover more of our operating costs, which include Artist Instructor fees, rent, and more.

  • This price ($15/hr) allows us to cover most of the costs of running the course.

  • This price ($10/hr) is available to those who find the other two options too high for their household.

Please note: Participants in this course are not required to wear a mask, though your child is welcome to wear one, and we will have some extras on hand. Please ensure that your child passes the Symptom Screening before coming, and that they wear a mask if they've experienced symptoms within the past 10 days as per Ontario government guidance. Please get in touch with Stacey Sproule ([email protected]) if you have any concerns or questions.
